Black Bear Hunt (Guided – All Inclusive)

This package includes a 6 night hunt, and modern cabin accommodations.  All hunters must arrive after 10:00AM on Saturdays and depart by 10:00AM the following Friday.  Hunt services include daily baiting, professional skinning and quartering of your bear, and freezer service.

We have six private bear management areas, and no one will be hunting them but you.

We have our own proven bait recipe and bait techniques.  They work!  We bait weeks in advance of the hunt and monitor the baits, so we can choose the most active ones for our hunters.  Call of the North has consistently maintained a minimum 70% kill rate in our bear hunts for the last 30 years!  Many of our hunters see several bears before they choose to bag one.  We do the baiting, not you, so you can focus on your hunt.  Whether you are an archery, rifle or muzzle loader hunter – whether you prefer a tree stand or a ground blind – we will place you on a site that suits your needs.  Please note: You will need to bring and install your own tree stand for liability reasons.

You must provide your own transportation.  Please bring your favorite tree stand, so we can set it up according to your personal shot range and quickly move you to a new bait if necessary.  We provide consecutive bait sites for groups with only one vehicle so that you may drop each other off on your baits.  A majority of our baits are changed each season, and we rotate the use of our six Bear Management Areas, as well.

A sand pit is close by to sight in your bows and rifles.  The weather in Northern Ontario is very erratic, so bring clothing for all types of weather.  You have to wear hunter orange to and from your bait site, but will want to wear camouflage during your hunt.

Afternoon and evening hunting is best.  You may need a head net to keep the black flies from bothering you.  Remember to bring along coolers and some freezer wrap for your hide and meat.

Primitive Frontier Black Bear Hunt

We have acquired four large BMAs (Bear Management Areas) 70 miles north of our resort.  We are opening these select areas to a limited number of frontier hunters.  If you are interested in truly “roughing it”, Your opportunity to harvest a bear in these areas is excellent.  You will camp-out in the wilderness in a scenic area by a lake.  We will bait the hunting sites in these regions for weeks before your hunt begins.

You will be provided with our secret recipe bait and prepared, active bait sites upon your arrival.  Since the hunt takes place in an uninhabited and tranquil area of the wilderness, use of ATVs in this area is NOT permitted.  When you arrive, we will accompany you to the camp site and show you the personal bear sites.  You will be responsible to bring all of your own camping gear, personal amenities, food supplies, tree stand, weaponry and game and hide preparation storage containers (plastic bags, etc.).  There will be a game cleaning and skinning shelter at your disposal.  If you need assistance retrieving or skinning your bear, you can ask the camp manager for help.  He has 25+ years experience in retrieving and game dressing skills.  There will be a reasonable fee for his services.   We will provide freezer service for your hide and meat upon your return to the main camp.  A fire pit will be available to heat your food.  You will enjoy sitting around the campfire telling stories when you return from hunting in the evenings.

Since you only hunt bear in the late afternoon and evening, your days will be free to do some fishing.  Feel free to bring along a canoe or boat and motor and fish the lake adjacent to your camping area.  It is abundant with fish.  If you have always wanted to lay under the Northern stars gazing at the Northern Lights, listening to and watching the various Canadian wildlife run freely, this hunt is for you.  The genuine frontier hunt that you always dreamed about!

Note:  Because this hunt is geared towards true primitive hunters, no large RVs are permitted.  If a generator is going to be used, you must speak to the owners in advance of your reservation.  Generators must be muffled and ran minimally for a short duration during the mid-day to recharge your batteries.  No morning, evening, or nighttime generator use is permitted.  Do not ask to arrive early or leave late.  All check-in times are Sundays after 10:00AM.
